Motion Design
I have had the great honor of having the opportunity to work on the student film The Space Messenger Directed by Dawson Cifarelli. This short film is has won numerous awards in sound design, direction, production, and cinematography. For this film I was tasked with being the sole motion designer, working on the internal commercial for Cosmo Life Deliveries, the logo animation, and the procedural visuals for the end credits.
Cosmo Life Deliveries Commercial (No sound)
Initial storyboards and styleframes leaned more toward the vector and illustrative side. As the project developed, the commercial called for more stock video with a grainy treatment to showcase abundance and earthly supply, and to add that 60s infomercial feel.
To the right are the original ideation deck and moodboards that helped create both the TouchDesigner end scroll and the commercial motion graphics seen in the final film.
The goal for this commercial was to create a space age styled ad. Dawson and I drew inspiration from old Coke ads and the early 50s. Using a combination of vector illustration, free stock video/ images, animated textures, and a low frame-rate I was able to achieve this goal bringing to life a super-corporation that transcends our known universe.
